Black Hair pH Balance

Did you know there is a safe range for black hair ph balance when washing and moisturizing it?

On the pH Balance Scale distilled water is a 7.0 which is not bad but is not optimal for African American hair. The “Safe” range for washing hair is between 4.0 – 7.0 pH. The best range for black hair is 4.5 – 5.5 pH.

Substances with the proper acidic pH (4.5-5.5) will cause the hair cuticle to seal closed and lock in the water/moisture that it has received.
